Cross-Play Server FAQ
How are Java edition servers different to cross play servers?
Unlike traditional java edition servers that can only be played on a Windows, Mac or Linux PC, cross play servers can be joined by bedrock edition users as well, using multiple devices such as a Nintendo Switch, an xBox or PlayStation console, Mobile devices and a myriad of other platforms.
Can Minecraft Java edition and Minecraft bedrock edition users play together?
Absolutely! By using a true cross platform Minecraft server, like the ones above, Minecraft Java players and Minecraft bedrock players can connect to the same world and game together - In most cases you won't even have to run the same version, as most servers use the ViaVersion plugin. That being said, you will have to use a different IP address for each client type to join the server, but we provide both in the server pages.
I use a Nintendo switch. Can I join the same Minecraft World as my friends using xBox?
Of course! In fact, you won't even need a Cross-Play server for that, as all game consoles run the same game platform, Minecraft Bedrock Edition. So you can invite your friends and other console players to game together on any Bedrock server.
Can Minecraft Realms be Cross-Platform?
Unfortunately, No. A Realm is a small Mojang-hosted server that can only be joined by few friends using an invite code on Minecraft Bedrock Edition. Because Realms are hosted by Mojang, intalling the GeyserMC proxy (Which is what allows other players to join) is not possible.
